Detailed Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Mwanza-Serengeti
Drive on a tarmac road from Mwanza to Ndabaka gate. Explore the western corridor zone, observing masses of residents in their natural Habitats. Get a chance to pass at Grumeti River and Retima hippo pool where hippos and giant Nile crocodiles can be found in abundance. Travel further to Seronera area where animals can be seen in abundance including leopard, prides of lion, packs of spotted hyenas, cheetahs, buffaloes, topi, hartebeest, wildebeest, waterbucks, elands, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, and numerous species of birds. More than 100 species can be observed in a day.
Day 2 Full day in Serengeti
You have full day in the Serengeti ecosystem; you may start the day with early morning game drive at 6:00 a.m. and enjoy breakfast afterwards. You will also have a chance to embark on a balloon safari over the plains of Serengeti (this has to be early in the morning at 5:30 a.m.). Enjoy a bush breakfast (optional). Next, enjoy further game drives over the Serengeti Park, observing rock outcrops commonly known as Kopjes (pronounced as “copy,” which is Afrikaans language from South Africa meaning “The Spear Head”). These rocks are breeding sites for cheetah, lion, leopard and wild dog. You’ll see lions relaxing on top of the rocks, some which were given the name Simba Kopjes. Next, drive back to the campsite for lunch and take some rest until dusk, then go for sun set game drive, enjoying the sun sets of Serengeti also the best chance to spot nocturnal animals.
Afterwards, drive back to the camp or Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Serengeti-Ngorongoro
We start the day with an early morning game drive before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. This truly world-class attraction is also known as the ’8th Wonder of the World’. Our dinner and overnight stay is at the rustic Ngorongoro, dinner and Overnight at Lodge or Campsite
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater-Arusha OR Back Mwanza
After breakfast, finally we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see in here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. In the late afternoon we travel just outside of Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Arusha OR back Mwanza
