Safari from arusha to mwanza

Safari from Arusha to Mwanza, on this camping safari you will experience it all! From fantastic wildlife to impressive landscapes and meeting the local people. You will visit the highlights of northern Tanzania such as the Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro, the Serengeti National Park and Lake Victoria. Unique to this safari is the “off the beaten track” trip to Lake Victoria, offering you Canoe Riding!

Day 1 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

You will be picked up in the morning and after a short briefing you will head off in direction of the Tarangire National Park. The park with its savannah, baobab trees, seasonal swamps is home to huge elephant herds. Animals gather at the life-giving Tarangire River and you should see a selection of mammals ranging from giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests to zebras and warthogs. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen now and then but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and head to a nearby campsite, where you will spend the night in a tent OR Lodge. Lunch; Dinner

Day 2 Lake Manyara Area – Mto wa Mbu cultural programme – Lake Eyasi

Breakfast is enjoyed at the lodge before you head off to the multi-cultural town of Mto wa Mbu. Here you will be met by a local guide who will give you a short briefing on the upcoming tour – exploring the village and its surroundings on foot. During your experience you will witness traditional wood carvers as well as local artists at work. After a traditional African lunch you leave this lively town and continue your journey to Lake Eaysi. For the adventurous, there is the option to skip the Mto wa Mbu cultural programme and join a quad bike tour from Karatu to Lake Eyasi (optional and at additional cost – please contact our consultants for more information). Either way, you will arrive at the Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge in time for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3 Hadzabe, Datoga and blacksmith cultural experience – Karatu

After breakfast, a true African experience awaits. You will visit the Hadzabe, an ethnic minority and one of Tanzania’s last hunter-gatherer tribes. They have managed to maintain their traditional lifestyle until this day in this dry and mostly barren area. Thereafter you will pay a visit to the pastoral nomads and herdsmen, known as the Datoga tribe. The experience is completed with a stop at the blacksmiths where you will witness craftsmen in rather rudimentary working conditions. After this interactive cultural experience you will continue to Karatu, where you will arrive in the afternoon. Enjoy some free time – relax at the lodge or join an elephant cave walk (optional and at additional cost – please contact our consultants for more information). The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at the Ngorongoro Farm House.Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Day 4 Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

You enjoy an early breakfast at sunrise before you leave Karatu to make your way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will soon reach the crater rim from where you can enjoy the stunning views of the massive caldera. From here, a steep winding road takes you down into the crater where you will witness fantastic wildlife and beautiful scenery. The crater is home to a large diversity of birds and mammals including the ‘Big Five’ – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. For lunch you will stop at a beautiful viewing spot and enjoy a pre-packed lunch. With a lot of new photos you will exit the crater in the afternoon and continue your journey to the Serengeti National Park.
The Serengeti is Tanzania’s largest national park and probably best known for the yearly migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras. You will reach your accommodation in the late afternoon and after you have had some time to relax, you will enjoy dinner. You will spend the night at the Kati Kati Tented Camp in the central Serengeti.

Day 5 Serengeti National Park-Mwanza

In the morning you will have breakfast before you leave the camp for a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Although the migration might be the main attraction for many visitors, the diversity of habitats and landscapes will make an impression. Animals that can be spotted include predators such as lions and leopards as well as antelopes, giraffes, zebras, hippos and elephants. Alternatively you can join a balloon safari in the early morning (optional and at additional cost – please contact our consultants for more information) where you will enjoy the views of the Serengeti plains from the sky. The balloon safari is followed by a bush breakfast after which you will join your safari guide for the game drive. After an eventful day, In late Afternoon you will drive to Mwanza through western corridor of Serengeti, Dinner and Overnight at Tilapia Hotel, Dinner

Day 6: Mwanza-Rubondo Island

After having your breakfast depart at 7.30am for 4hours drive to Rubondo Island National park. Ride a boat for another 30min. Arrive and check inn at this beautiful Island in Lake Victoria.

After lunch we will be prevalaged to do game viewing on foot accompanied by an armed ranger in the middle of African forest. Walk around the beach while learning a lot from our MOTHER NATURE. Have a glance at the schools of hippo. Keep your eyes watching for sitatunga, otters, bushbuck, vervet monkeys. Rare sightings are black and white colobus monkey, genet, marsh mongoose, suni antelope, and elephant. Rubondo Island is a perfect paradise for birding as over 400 species of birds have been seen including African Fish Eagle. Our friendly guide is always happy to share with you about the behind the scene perspectives in this beatiful island and much much more..! Some of Africa's biggest crocodiles bask and lie in wait in the banks of Lake Victoria.

Accommodation: Rubondo Island Luxury Camp.

Meals included: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 7: Rubondo Island national park (Half day Game viewing by boat) 
Depart at 8.00am after breakfast for boat riding in Lake Victoria (depending on weather you may opt to go in the morning or late afternoon). 

This is the best experience for game viewing in Lake Victoria as we will be able to reach very remote parts of Lake Victoria.  Explore an uncountable number of Nile crocodiles, stop over at the breeding site for birds and observe schools of hippos. Rubondo Island offers extraordinary experience you can't imagine. As you make your way back to the lodge make sure to keep your eyes open for birds, including our very own Shrike, eastern white-crowned shrike. We will walk/ drive back to the luxury camp for our sumptuous meals while enjoying the cool breeze from tall trees surrounding the tented lodge as well sounds of hippos close to the lounge.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 8: Rubondo Island national park/ Drive back to Mwanza city
after enjoying a buffet breakfast, collect your picnic lunch, check out and continue driving to Mwanza. On our way we may stop for gift shop at the exit gate. Later after having your picnic lunch start heading to Mwanza and drop you at the airport/ hotel (drop off point to be advised)

Meals included: Breakfast and Packed Lunch.
